The personal and clinical applications of Buddhist psychology Fri 16th - Sat 17th March 2018 These workshops will provide an opportunity to experience and understand the clinical (and personal) applications of Buddhist mindfulness and four relationship qualities (loving kindness, compassion, appreciative joy and equanimity). The workshop will include presentations, interactive discussion, reflection, experiential exercises, movement and different forms of meditation. They will emphasise the experiential and involve the integration of theory and practice. These two workshops are connected but may be attended separatelyustralian Psychological Society (APS Buddhism and Psychology Interest Group (BPIG) as well as the Australian Association of Buddhist Counsellors and Psychotherapists (AABCAP). Mindfulness and the Four Heart Qualities: A Silent Meditation Retreat April 6th - 11th 2018 In mindfulness and stillness we can cultivate the heart qualities of loving kindness, compassion, appreciative joy and equanimity. These mutually supportive states enable us to transform psychological and interpersonal suffering. This silent retreat will focus on the wisdom and compassion teachings of Buddhism and also refer to contemporary mindful compassion approaches. It will involve talks, guidance, workshop style training, silent meditation practice and optional yoga. Anyone with meditation experience is welcome. Cultivating the Heart with Serenity and Insight Fri Aug 31st - Fri Sept 7th 2018 Teachers: Mal Huxter - Meditation and Lisa Brown - Yoga Venue: Mt Carmen Retreat Centre, Varroville NSW, near Sydney This retreat is a dana based seven or three day silent meditation retreat with optional yoga and will involve training and practise in mindfulness, focussed attention, loving kindness, compassion, appreciative joy and equanimity.
