Online course on Monday evenings 6pm-8.30pm AEDT called “Healing the heart mind with insight”

This course will be eight weekly sessions beginning February 8th  and roughly follow the contents of my book, “Healing the heart and mind with mindfulness”.  It will be based on both the ancient Buddhist four establishments of mindfulness and contemporary psychological (and neuroscience) perspectives.  For more details and booking follow this link:


6 weekly session course called “Cultivating the heart”

It will be based on cultivating the four heart qualities: loving kindness, compassion, appreciative joy and equanimity.  Monday evenings 6-8.30pm AEDT from April 12, 2021.  This course will address these four qualities as meditation practices as well as ways we relate to self and others.   It will highlight the Buddhist approach and include contemporary insights and practices.  For more details and booking follow this link.


Both of these courses have fee paying options as well as dana-based options.

Cultivating Serenity, Insight and the Heart Qualities

Silent meditation retreat

4.00pm Friday Aug 27th till 12noon Sunday Sept 5th

Teachers: Dharma and meditation teacher, Malcolm Huxter

Yoga and meditation teacher and trainee Dharma teacher, Lisa Brown

Onsite venue: Mt Carmel Retreat Centre, Varroville, (outskirts of Sydney) NSW, Australia.


This retreat will have both onsite residential and online options as well as the option to attend 7 days or 10 days.  The online component of this course will be completely dana based.  The onsite component will require payment for food and accommodation.  The teaching will be provided as dana.


This retreat will be based on Theravada Buddhist meditation practices. It will focus on training in the cultivation of mindfulness (sati), focussed attention (samadhi), and the four divine abodes (loving kindness, compassion, appreciative joy and equanimity).


There will be evening talks (7:00pm) and workshop style morning instruction (9:00am) with Mal as well as some talks, instruction and morning yoga sessions (6:15am) with Lisa. Short individual interviews with Mal will be possible after the first weekend.
